RUTLAND TOWNSHIP CEMETERY
Section 27, Rutland Township

Rutland Township Cemetery is about a one acre plot. This was plotted by a Humboldt County Surveyor by the name of T. Elwood Collins in 1872-1875. He also plotted the Union cemetery northwest of Livermore. The railroad cut through the cemetery in about 1881. The road also cut through the cemetery. We can find no township records for this cemetery. There were many removals to Union Cemetery and some to other cemeteries. In 1962 Mr. Milan Petras and his FFA boys from Humboldt High School cleaned and planted many trees in this cemetery. In 1976 the Rutland Bicentennial group has been helping along with other interest citizens to help clean up the cemetery. There were no stones upright, some were broken, and many we cannot account for but are hopi9ng to find by probing.
